I can&#8217;t open this weird file!&#8221; \u2013 you are not alone. Most business owners still doubt what a &#8220;real&#8221; invoice is and what is just a picture of an invoice.<br>In this article, we bust the myths about e-invoice formats and explain how to avoid misunderstandings with customers. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"XML_is_the_brain_PDF_is_the_face_of_the_invoice\"><\/span><strong><strong><strong>XML is the brain, PDF is the face of the invoice <\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n<p>The shortest answer to the title&#8217;s question is: an eInvoice is an XML.<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>XML format (.xml):<\/strong> This is the legally mandatory format under the new Fiscalization Act. It contains structured data that information intermediaries and the Tax Administration exchange. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>PDF format (.pdf):<\/strong> This is merely a visual presentation of that data. It serves us humans so we know what we are paying, who the buyer is, and who the seller is. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p><strong>The problem arises here<\/strong>: The law dictates that you must send the XML via an information intermediary. If your client&#8217;s system lacks the option to &#8220;read&#8221; that XML, they will only see code, not a readable document.<br\/> <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Why_does_the_client_claim_you_didnt_send_a_PDF\"><\/span><strong><strong>Why does the client claim you didn&#8217;t send a PDF?<\/strong><\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n<p>When a client says they got &#8220;only an XML,&#8221; the issue usually lies with their information intermediary.<br\/><\/p>\n\n<p>Quality systems (like our app) have an integrated visual presentation. This means that as soon as you receive an XML, the system automatically &#8220;draws&#8221; it and displays it as a classic PDF invoice. <br\/>If the client&#8217;s intermediary doesn&#8217;t have this feature, the client is left confused, staring at raw data.<br\/>  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_%E2%80%9Cforce%E2%80%9D_the_PDF_to_reach_the_client\"><\/span><strong>How to &#8220;force&#8221; the PDF to reach the client?<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n<p>If your client explicitly wants a PDF, and their system doesn&#8217;t display it, there is a surefire way to accommodate them directly through our app. The solution is in the attachment:<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Generate the invoice: Create the invoice in the app as usual.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Save the PDF: <\/strong>Before sending, download the PDF version of that invoice to your computer.<br\/><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Spremite PDF:<\/strong> Prije slanja, preuzmite PDF verziju tog ra\u010duna na svoje ra\u010dunalo.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Add it as an attachment:<\/strong> In the e-invoice sending interface, click on the option to add attachments.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Send both:<\/strong> Attach that exact PDF alongside the XML.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<p>To make things as easy as possible for you, we have also prepared a short video guide.
